AI Chat Guide

Learn how to use AI Chat to get strategic competitive intelligence assistance.

Overview

AI Chat provides intelligent assistance for competitive intelligence questions. It uses your collected data, web search, and AI reasoning to answer questions about competitors, battlecards, matrices, and more. AI Chat is available in two modes: competitor-specific chat and general chat.

Note: AI Chat requires STANDARD plan or higher. Enterprise plans get additional action tools.

Getting Started

Accessing AI Chat

  1. Navigate to AI Chat from the main menu
  2. Or use the floating chat widget on competitor pages
  3. Chat interface opens ready for your questions

Two Chat Modes

Competitor-Specific Chat

Focused on a specific competitor:

  • Access from competitor detail pages
  • Context-aware about that competitor
  • Uses competitor-specific data and tools
  • Best for detailed competitor questions

General Chat

Workspace-wide assistance:

  • Access from main AI Chat page
  • Can answer questions about any competitor
  • Uses @mentions to focus on specific competitors
  • Best for broad questions and comparisons

Asking Questions

Basic Questions

Ask natural language questions:

  • "What are our advantages over Competitor X?"
  • "How does Competitor Y position themselves?"
  • "What objections should I expect from Competitor Z?"
  • "Compare our pricing to Competitor X"

Using @Mentions

In general chat, mention competitors by name:

  • "@Acme Corp what are their main weaknesses?"
  • "How does @Competitor X compare to @Competitor Y?"
  • "@Company Name what is their pricing strategy?"

The AI will automatically identify and focus on mentioned competitors.

How AI Chat Works

Tool Usage

AI Chat uses various tools to answer questions:

Retrieval Tools (All Plans)

  • get_battlecard: Retrieves battlecard content
  • get_matrix_comparison: Gets competitive matrix data
  • vector_search_intel: Semantic search of intel items
  • get_competitor_intel: Retrieves all intel for a competitor
  • get_competitor_profile: Gets competitor profile information

Web Search Tools (All Plans)

  • web_search: Searches the web for current information
  • get_webpage_content: Fetches and analyzes web pages

Action Tools (Enterprise Only)

  • trigger_refresh: Triggers competitor refresh jobs
  • generate_battlecard: Generates new battlecards
  • Other actions: Additional automation capabilities

Response Process

  1. Question Analysis: AI understands your question
  2. Tool Selection: Chooses appropriate tools to gather data
  3. Data Retrieval: Fetches relevant information
  4. Reasoning: Analyzes and synthesizes information
  5. Response Generation: Provides comprehensive answer

You'll see the AI's thinking process and tool usage in the chat interface.

Best Practices

Be Specific

  • Mention specific competitors by name
  • Ask focused questions rather than broad ones
  • Include context about what you're trying to accomplish
  • Reference specific products or categories when relevant
