Onboarding Guide

This guide will help you get started with Hello Battle Card and set up your competitive intelligence workspace.

Overview​

When you first sign up for Hello Battle Card, you'll go through an onboarding wizard that helps you:

  1. Discover and add your products
  2. Add your first competitor
  3. Generate your first battlecard

The onboarding process automatically triggers competitor analysis and battlecard generation, so you'll have actionable competitive intelligence ready when you're done.

Step 1: Discover Products​

The onboarding wizard starts with product discovery. You have two options:

Option A: Discover Products from Website​

  1. Enter your company's website URL (e.g., https://yourcompany.com)
  2. Click "Discover Products"
  3. The system will analyze your website and automatically discover your products
  4. You'll see a live log of the discovery process
  5. Once complete, discovered products will appear in a list

Option B: Create Product Manually​

If you prefer to create a product manually:

  1. Click "Create Product Manually"
  2. Fill in the required fields:
    • Product Name: The name of your product
    • Description: A brief description of what your product does
    • Primary Buyer Persona: Who buys this product (e.g., "Enterprise CTOs", "Small Business Owners")
  3. Optionally add:
    • Value Propositions: Key benefits your product provides
    • Features: Specific features and capabilities
    • Categories: Product categories (e.g., pricing, features, integrations)
  4. Click "Save Product"

Step 2: Select Products​

After products are discovered or created:

  1. Review the list of discovered products
  2. Select the products you want to track competitors for (you can select multiple)
  3. You can edit any product before selecting it:
    • Click "Edit" on a product card
    • Modify the name, description, audience, or other details
    • Click "Save" to update
  4. Click "Continue" to proceed with selected products

Note: You need at least one product to continue. If no products were discovered, you can create one manually.

Step 3: Add Competitor​

Once you've selected your products:

  1. Enter competitor information:
    • Competitor Name: The company name (e.g., "Acme Corp")
    • Website URL: Their website URL (e.g., https://acme.com)
  2. The system will automatically associate this competitor with your selected products
  3. Click "Add Competitor"

Step 4: Processing Pipeline​

After adding a competitor, the system automatically starts a comprehensive analysis pipeline:

Processing Steps​

  1. Collecting Intel: Gathering competitive intelligence from various sources
  2. Processing Intel: Analyzing and categorizing the collected data
  3. Building Competitor Matrix: Creating a comparison matrix across categories
  4. Generating Battle Card: Creating your first battlecard (one per selected product)

You'll see real-time progress updates with:

  • Current step being executed
  • Progress percentage
  • Live logs of the analysis process

What Happens During Processing​

  • Data Collection: The system scrapes the competitor's website, analyzes their products, pricing, features, and positioning
  • Intel Ingestion: Collected data is processed, categorized, and stored as intel items
  • Matrix Building: Competitive capabilities are compared across categories (pricing, features, integrations, etc.)
  • Battlecard Generation: AI generates battlecards with talking points, objections handling, and evidence-backed claims

Processing Time: The full pipeline typically takes 2-5 minutes, depending on the complexity of the competitor and amount of data available.

Completion​

Once processing is complete:

  1. You'll see a success message
  2. You'll be automatically redirected to your dashboard
  3. Your first battlecard will be ready to view
  4. You can start using all Hello Battle Card features

After Onboarding​

After completing onboarding, you can:

  • View Battlecards: Navigate to Battlecards to see your generated competitive intelligence
  • Add More Competitors: Go to Competitors to add additional competitors
  • Explore Matrix: View competitive comparisons in the Matrix view (PRO+ plan)
  • Use AI Chat: Ask questions about your competitors using AI Chat (STANDARD+ plan)
  • Manage Products: Edit products, add capabilities, or discover new products

Tips for Successful Onboarding​

  1. Use Your Main Website: Enter your primary company website URL for best product discovery results
  2. Select Relevant Products: Only select products you actively compete on
  3. Choose Key Competitors: Start with your top 2-3 competitors for focused analysis
  4. Wait for Processing: Let the pipeline complete - you'll get better results with full analysis
  5. Review Battlecards: After completion, review your battlecards to understand the format and content

Troubleshooting​

Product Discovery Fails:

  • Ensure the URL is accessible and publicly available
  • Try using your main homepage URL
  • You can always create products manually

Competitor Processing Stuck:

  • Processing can take several minutes - wait at least 5 minutes
  • Check your internet connection
  • Refresh the page if progress hasn't updated in 10+ minutes

No Products Discovered:

  • This is normal for some websites
  • Use "Create Product Manually" to add your products
  • You can discover products later from Settings > Products
