Best Practices
Product Naming
- Use clear, descriptive names (e.g., "Enterprise Platform" not "Product 1")
- Include edition/tier if applicable (e.g., "Pro Edition", "Enterprise")
- Keep names consistent across your organization
Descriptions
- Write 2-3 sentences describing what the product does
- Focus on the problem it solves, not just features
- Use language your customers would use
Buyer Personas
- Be specific (e.g., "Enterprise Sales VPs" not "Business Users")
- Consider multiple personas if your product serves different markets
- Match personas to your actual buyer profiles
Value Propositions
- Focus on outcomes, not features
- Use customer language
- Limit to 3-5 key value props per product
- Make them measurable when possible
Categories
- Use standard categories when possible for better comparisons
- Add custom categories for unique differentiators
- Ensure categories align with how you sell
Capabilities
- Be honest about your strengths and weaknesses
- Update capabilities regularly as your product evolves
- Use evidence to support capability claims
Product Capabilities Analysis
Hello Battle Card can automatically analyze your product capabilities:
- After creating or updating a product, the system queues a background analysis job
- The analysis examines your product's categories and capabilities
- Results help improve competitive comparisons and battlecard quality
You can trigger a manual reanalysis:
- Open a product's detail page
- Click "Reanalyze Capabilities"
- Wait for the analysis to complete (typically 1-2 minutes)
Multi-Product Setup
If you have multiple products:
- Create each product separately
- Associate competitors with relevant products
- Generate separate battlecards for each product-competitor pair
- Use product filters in battlecards and matrices to focus on specific products
Tip: Start with your primary product, then add others as needed.
